Driving licenses

To drive in Thailand you must obtain a Thai driving license, or possess an international driving license. Sutlet Group recently launched a service to assist foreign-nationals undertake these processes, reducing the stress and confusion involved.

There are different stages of license applications to complete (and each application involves a different process, although they become shorter and easy as you progress): Driving License
  • Your initial driving license (valid 1 year)
  • Your renewal (valid 5 years)
  • Subsequent renewals (also valid for 5 years).
For your first application, you will generally require a medical certificate, and be required to watch an instructional video, complete a written test, an eye exam and complete a very simple driving test.

Subsequent applications will exclude the driving test, but may include the others.

Additionally, the process varies depending on which Driving Authority you utilise, and Sutlet Group can advise accordingly.
